Scherer - Oliveira

Bruce and Michelle Scherer of Benton, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Kathryn Scherer, to Kris Anthony Oliveira, both of Cape Girardeau. He is the son of Dr. William and Diana Prickett of Las Cruces, N.M.

Scherer is a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau. She is a 2006 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and is a graduate student in the community counseling program at Southeast. She is a retention specialist with the Office of Learning Assistance Programs and Disability Support Services at the university.

Oliveira is a 1998 graduate of Dexter High School. He received a degree in computer science from the university in 2003, and is a graduate student in the master's of business administration program at Southeast. He is a technology specialist with Cape Girardeau School District.

A May 24 wedding is planned at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.
