James and Linda Payton of Kansas City, Mo., announce the engagement of their granddaughter, Lauren Payton, to Aron Meystedt, both of Dallas, Texas. He is the son of Kermit and Sandy Meystedt of Cape Girardeau.

Lauren received a bachelor of science degree in commercial photography from Southeast Missouri State University in 2012. She is a free lance photographer in Dallas.

Aron is a graduate of Southeast, and attended graduate school at Southern Methodist University. He is a director at Heritage Auctions in Dallas.

An Oct. 12 wedding is planned at Dalhousie Manor in Cape Girardeau.
