Goodman - Essner

Tim and Cathy Goodman of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Malerie Phillips Goodman, to Brent Michael Essner. He is the son of Dennis and Becky Essner of Kelso, Mo.

Goodman is a 2004 graduate of Jackson High School. She received a bacheor's degree in exercise science from St. Louis University in 2009, and expects to receive a doctoral degree in physical therapy from the university in May.

Essner is a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. He received a master's degree in occupational therapy from Maryville University. He is an occupational therapist at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

An Oct. 2 wedding is planned.
