Christy Hendrix of Morgantown, Ky., formerly of Cape Girardeau, announces the engagement of her daughter, Erin Melissa Hendrix, to Christopher Michael Compton. He is the son of Buddy Compton of Bowling Green, Ky., and the late Carol Chambers. Hendrix is also the daughter of the late Doyle "Whitney" Hendrix.

Hendrix is a 1997 graduate of Butler County High School.
