Terry K. and Judith K. Canupp of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn M. Canupp, to Michael O. Walters Jr., both of St. Louis. He is the son of Michael Walters Sr. of DeSoto, Mo., and Ann and Tom Herides of St. Louis.

Canupp has a bachelor of science degree in education, and is pursuing a master's degree in business administration. She is a legal assistant at Safety National Casualty Corp. in St. Louis.

Walters attended Jefferson Community College. He is a manager at Batteries Plus in St. Peters, Mo.

An October wedding is planned.
