Brunke is a 1998 graduate of Jackson High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Lindenwood University in 2002. She is employed in management with Enterprise Car Rental in Columbus, Ohio.

Smith is a 1989 graduate of Jackson High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He is a systems design engineer with Newcome Electronics in Columbus.

A September wedding is planned at Deerfield Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
