Brown is a graduate of International Children's Ministry Institute in Litchfield, Ill. She works with children.

Newell received a bachelor of arts degree and juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He has a law firm in Cape Girardeau.

The couple plans to be married Aug. 30 at Christ Church of the Heartland.
