Brown -- Filer

Rick and Dawn Brown of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Leeanne Brown, to Matthew Dean Filer, both of Bernie, Missouri. He is the son of Marlin and Tammy Filer and Virgil Rhodes and Tammy Rhodes, all of Vandalia, Illinois.

Heather is a 2011 graduate of Jackson High School. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2015 with an English education degree. She is an English teacher at Campbell High School.

Matthew is a 2005 graduate of Vandalia High School. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2013 with a music education degree. He is director of bands at Malden High School.

A Nov. 12 wedding is planned at the First Christian Church in Dexter, Missouri, with the reception being held at the Bernie Community Center.
