Benjamin-Lyons

Matthew and Lisa Hinds of Elkton, Ky., and Bob and Sheila Benjamin of Malden, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kara Jo Benjamin, to Clarence O. Lyons III. He is the son of Clarence and Sherry Lyons II of New Madrid, Mo.

Benjamin received bachelor of science degrees in political science, mass communication, speech, and criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University. She is pursuing a master of science degree in public administration. She is a staff assistant with Rep. Jo Ann Emerson's office.

Lyons is a 1997 graduate of New Madrid County Central High School. He is a member of Ironworkers Local 782.

A Jan. 1 wedding is planned in Eureka Springs.
