Who's Who: Joey McLane

President, First Midwest Banks in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

WHERE'S HE BEEN: Forty-five-year-old McLane was born in Columbia, Mo., and now lives in Poplar Bluff with his wife, Angela, and daughter, Marissa. He received both a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He began working for First Midwest Bank right out of college, working his way up over the last 22 years.

"We have 13 facilities in nine communities in Southeast Missouri. I coordinate with the management of the banks and facilities on a daily basis. I also still make a few commercial loans," he says.

WHERE HE'S GOING: In five years, says McLane, he hopes to be attending his daughter's college graduation at Mizzou. On working in his community, McLane says, "I like to help by serving on a variety of civic, charitable, and business boards or committees."

WHY HE WAS CHOSEN: "Joey McLane manages to oversee operations at three banks in six counties all while actively serving on boards for the Housing Authority, United Gospel Rescue Mission, Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and Highway 67 corporation," wrote Ben Ressel, who nominated McLane. "Our bank is well known for its generosity when it comes to community service and charitable donations and that can be directly attributed to him and his family and the way he runs our banks. His reputation of community service and charitable donations in Butler County is unmatched. He does all these things with a down-to-earth sincerity that is unmatched and not for the publicity. When our bank makes a donation you will rarely see Joey handing the check to the recipient in the paper, even though many times he's the one behind the donation. Joey is certainly deserving of being selected as Who's Who in Southeast Missouri."
