Jessica King, webmaster at SoutheastHEALTH, says she's always looking for new opportunities to challenge herself and help her grow. At work, that means staying up-to-date with the latest technology and programs through classes, webinars and taking initiative to learn things on her own. Outside the office, she stays busy working with several organizations. "I am a member of the Kiwanis Priority One group, which focuses on running the Kiwanis branded Service Leadership Programs at educational institutions," she says. "Through the Kiwanis Priority One group, I am one of the advisers for Circle K International, which is a university service organization. Aktion Club, which is also part of the Kiwanis family of organizations, is another organization I volunteer with. Aktion Club allows adults living with disabilities to develop initiative and leadership skills through hands-on service." She also is a volunteer at LaCroix Church, working with the church's senior high ministry, serving in the nursery and leading a women's Bible study. Though she has no children of her own, King says she hopes to adopt several one day.
__What inspires you?__
There are so many things that inspire me. What I am most inspired by, though, would most likely be small or large acts done with love, even if it's for a complete stranger. I'm also inspired by being outdoors, surrounded by God's beauty, and by any kind of art form that moves my soul, whether it's a painting, photograph or song.
__What community issue is most important to you?__
I am always drawn to anything that benefits the welfare of youth, whether it's working with the college students through Circle K International, helping with the youth at LaCroix, sponsoring a girl in Swaziland through Heart for Africa or working alongside organizations like Feed My Starving Children.
