STE. GENEVIEVE - Mississippi Lime Co. vice president of operations Keith Espelien reported that Mississippi Lime hourly employees represented by Laborers Local 829 and Steelworkers Local 169G ratified a new three-year contract effective July 1.
The new agreement calls for an across the board wage increase of 65 cents per hour in the first year of the contract, and 2.5 percent increases for all pay grades in both the second and third year.
Also, management and the unions agreed to increase the pension benefit by 11 percent over the next three years in addition to lowering eligibility for full pension benefits to age 63.
Supplemental voluntary benefits are part of the new agreement and will allow employees the opportunity to participate in a dental program and obtain additional individual and dependent life insurance coverage.
The new agreement also provides employees additional flexibility in their vacation scheduling.
