Survey - jobs in Southeast Missouri

Southeast Missouri continues to be the best place in the state to be looking for a job.

According to the Manpower survey, 37 percent of Southeast Missouri employers surveyed plan to add new employees during October, November and December while 63 percent plan no change and none plan any layoffs.

Central Missouri is the worst place for job-hunting according to the survey. Only 10 percent of employers surveyed plan to hire new workers, 80 percent plan no change and 3 percent plan layoffs.

In between those two extremes are Joplin and Springfield, where 27 percent of employers plan to hire new workers. Seventy-three percent of Joplin employers and 66 percent of Springfield businesses plan to keep things the way they are. Seven percent of Springfield employers plan layoffs. None plan layoffs in Joplin.

Twenty-three percent of Kansas City employers plan to hire new workers, 67 percent plan no change and 10 percent plan layoffs.

Thirteen percent of St. Louis firms plan to hire new workers, 82 percent plan no change and five percent plan cuts.
