During its 30 years in business, Stereo One has lived up to its name.
Owner John Selby said Stereo One sold the first VCR, the first CD player for home and car, the first DVD player, the first camcorder and the first Apple computer in the region. It sold the first plasma TV in Missouri.
But Selby's goal is not just to be first in home and audio sound and theater, but the best. Stereo One was awarded "Dealer of the Year" award from cable manufacturer Audioquest in 2010.
We're very proud of this award in that it acknowledged and validated what we consider our core competency, which is delivering music and home theater systems that perform at a very high level," Selby said.
The past year saw Stereo One sell its Springfield, Mo. and Carbondale, Ill. locations, positioning them to focus on improving processes and sending the quality of customer service and support "through the roof" at the Cape Girardeau store at 345 S. Kingshighway.
Unsurpassed service is part of what Selby calls a "quality vs. quantity" commitment that he feels sets Stereo One apart from high-volume electronics chain stores. But Selby wants customers to know that their service doesn't necessarily mean an inflated price.
"Customers will never pay more for the same item at Stereo One than they will at the chain stores," Selby said.
