Southeast Missouri recognitions

Todd Petzoldt has been named to the advisory board of directors for Commerce Community Bank Petzoldt is secretary/treasurer and chief financial officer for East Perry Lumber Co. in Perryville. He serves on the board of directors of Perry County Health System, the Perryville Park Board, as well as

serving as president of Doctor's Memorial Clinic in Frohna, and on the board of regents of Saxony Lutheran High School.

Joseph Boyer, manager for United Parcel Service in Cape Girardeau, was recently honored for completing 30 years of service with the company. UPS, the world's largest package distribution company, serves more than 200 countries and territories. The Missouri district employs 5,000 and more than 30 operating centers around the state.

Scott Berry of Bernie is the newest member of the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri.

Berry replaces John Moore of Dexter, who recently resigned. He will represent Stoddard County on the

board. Berry is operations manager for the Ames Tru-Temper plants in Bernie and Dexter. Ames Tru-Temper manufactures hickory striking tool handles and fiberglass handles.

The Daily American Republic newspaper in Poplar Bluff won first place in the spot sports and feature writing categories and took third place in community affairs/public interest and spot news in the annual Missouri Associated Press Managing Editors News Writing Contest. The DAR competed in the mid-size division, or Division II for cities of 15,000 to 50,000 population.

Sharon Kissinger, investment representative of Edward Jones Investments of Poplar Bluff, has been

named to the President's Club of The American Funds Group, one of the nation's leading mutual fund

families. Appointment to the President's Club is one of the organization's highest honors for stockbrokers and financial planners.

Marilyn Corse has been named the new Perry County representative on the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri. She replaces Gary Wengert, who has resigned from the board. Corse is the human resources manager for Solar Communications of Perryville, and has been with that firm for 13 years. Corse was recommended by the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce and was appointed by the Perry County Commission on May 6.

Bobby Barks, owner of Barks Auction Service LLC of Jackson, has been elected president of the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association. For the past 13 years, Barks and his wife have owned and operated the auction facility between Jackson and Cape Girardeau. Barks has been active in the MPAA serving in the offices of director, vice president and president-elect. Barks is also active in the national organization.

Sharon Stanley of Prudential Financial in Cape Girardeau received the River Heritage Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers' most prestigious award at a special presentation recently at Port Cape Girardeau. The M. Luther Hahs, CLU, Insurance and Financial Adviser of the Year 2002 was presented to Stanley for her outstanding contributions to the financial services industry and the community.

Marion Pepsi-Cola Vice President Lee Crisp was recently elected president of the Illinois Soft Drink Association. Crisp has previously served as vice president and as director of the association's 14-member board of directors. Crisp will lead and represent Illinois' major soft drink bottlers, which employ nearly 12,000 Illinois citizens directly, generating salaries of $607 million per year. The industry employs 52,000 more people indirectly throughout Illinois. Crisp will also represent Illinois bottlers at the national level on soft drink topics and issues.

Steven Fritzler of Cape Girardeau was recently honored at a national sales conference held by Aid Association for Lutheran/Lutheran Brotherhood. Fritzler qualified for the conference in Orlando, Fla., in recognition for his outstanding business performance in 2001. Financial associates were also honored for support of local volunteer groups, called branches. Fritzler has been a financial associate for 13 years and has been honored by the organization 11 times for outstanding sales and member service. He serves Lutherans and their family members in Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Kennett, Malden and Sikeston.

Jan McClanahan of McClanahan Real Estate in Cape Girardeau received membership in the Missourian Association of Realtors Honor Society for 2001 at the May meeting of the Cape Girardeau Board of Realtors.

Thomas M. Meyer of Thomas L. Meyer Realty Co. recently attended the National Association of Realtors' meeting in Washington, D.C., as this year's NAR regional vice president. Realtor issues in government regulations and legislation concerning private property rights, virtual property marketing, and international property agreements were some of the items discussed. The National Association of Realtors has more than 800,000 members, which is a professional association adhering to a strict code of ethics. Thomas L. Meyer Realty Co. has been in business since 1946, with both Thomas L. and Thomas M. Meyer as past state presidents.

Carolyn Kempf of Elite Travel Inc. in Cape Girardeau was recently presented with the Funjet Vacations 500 Club Bronze Award at the Grand Lido Braco in Jamaica. This honor is presented to the top-producing agency in the Midwest. Funjet Vacations specializes in packages to Mexico, the Caribbean and Las Vegas.
