Southeast Hospital named one of region's best hospitals

Southeast Hospital was among 247 hospitals included in U.S. News & World Report's nation's Best Regional Hospitals list for 2011-2012.

Southeast was one of nine nonmetropolitan hospitals in Missouri named to the list. All Best Regional Hospitals, regardless of location, have met the same standard: Hospitals had to be high performing in at least one of the 16 adult specialties U.S. News evaluates. The magazine singled out Southeast Hospital for being "high performing" in urology.

To be considered high performing, a hospital had to score among the top 25 percent of all hospitals evaluated for the Best Hospitals rankings.

* Old Town Cape will introduce its new tagline, "Old Town is Your Town," during the organization's annual dinner set for Feb. 23 at Dockside The Upper Deck.

"We truly believe that the downtown is everybody's neighborhood. This tagline not only reflects this belief but the idea that we want the whole community to be engaged in the work, vision and mission of the organization," said Marla Mills, executive director of Old Town Cape.

The Excellence in Preservation, Volunteer of the Year, Business Excellence and Charles L. Hutson Visionary Award will also be presented. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour at Bilderbach Arts Plaza on Main Street. Dinner, catered by Bella Italia, will be served at 7 p.m. followed by the program. * More than 220 people attended the Perryville Chamber of Commerce annual meeting Jan. 26 at American Legion Post 133. The Business of the Year award was presented to Janette Call of Better Hearing Solutions and the Citizen of the Year award was presented to Lauren Boland of United Enterprises formerly known as the Perry County Sheltered Workshop. Outgoing Perryville Chamber president Mike Yamnitz of American Homes Realty and MFA Oil Company was recognized along with incoming 2012 chamber President Cindy Buchheit of Unique Ambiance. Entertainment was provided by "The Courthouse Steps" singing lawyers group.

* The city of Fredericktown, the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) of Fredericktown and the Missouri Public Electric Pool have partnered to use an advanced method providing electrical power to potential tenants of the city's 150 acre business park. Two 15 megawatt turbines, driven by natural gas, will provide uninterrupted power through a 7,200 volt, 3-phase power system. This new system will also serve as a back up for the city in case of a power outage. The turbines are expected to be in operation this spring. Officials with the city of Fredericktown and its IDA hope this power source will encourage business growth within their industrial park.

* MRV Banks of Ste. Genevieve has opened a loan office inside City Centre at 2502 Tanner Drive in Cape Girardeau. Mark Rivenburgh of Jackson serves as the loan officer, specializing in commercial lending.

* Jay's BBQ of Marble Hill, Mo., has opened a new restaurant location at the corner of South Blair Street and Hwy C in Advance, Mo. The restaurant is owned by Jay Santi.
