Janet Stewart, Southeast Missouri Hospital patient educator, received the Southeast Area Chapter of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) award for "Outstanding Community Service Award in Reaching People" during the recent ADA banquet.

Stewart, registered nurse and certified diabetic educator, has served as the local ADA president for the past two years and on the ADA Board for a total of five years.

The ADA has raised more than $35,000 for services and research.

Stewart has been employed at Southeast Missouri Hospital 15 years. She received her nursing degrees at Southeast Missouri State University.
