Patricia Huttegger, Cape Girardeau, a registered nurse, has been named quality assurance coordinator, a new position created by the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Southeast Missouri.
She has been patient care coordinator for the Cape Girardeau office since 1985, when VNA expanded into this area.
In her new position, she will be responsible for seeing that VNA maintains the high standards the agency follows for the provision of home care services.
Prior to joining VNA, Huttegger worked with St. Francis Medical Center, and was on the nursing staff of Southeast Missouri State University.
VNA is licensed by the state of Missouri and has been accredited "with commendation" by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Daniel M. Drury, president and CEO of MidAmerica Hotels Corp., has been named "Restaurateur of the Year" by the Southeast Missouri Chapter of Missouri Restaurant Association during its recent annual awards meeting, held at the Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau.
Drury is in charge of operations of three hotels Holiday Inn and Victorian Inn in Cape Girardeau, and St. Louis South Holiday Inn and 18 Burger King restaurants in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and Kentucky. He "grew up" in the family's restaurant and hotel business and has worked in almost every position, form porter to dishwasher to busboy to maintenance to general manager to president of the company.
Drury is a director of the Hotel and Motel Association of Greater St. Louis, the Tourism 2000 Marketing Committee for Missouri and Missouri Restaurant Association.
Wayne Schweigert of Family Inn, Ozora, was honored as "Director of the Year," and Larry LeGrand, of Kraft/Craig, was named "Allied Member of the Year" during the annual meeting.
James V. Biundo, assistant vice president for University Relations at Southeast Missouri State University, will be guest speaker at the Professional Secretaries International Executive Night banquet Tuesday.
Biundo, author of two books and several poems, has written numerous articles on language, communications, marketing and publications.
The banquet will be held at the Drury Lodge. The secretaries organization will name an "Executive of the Year," during the banquet.
Susan Creech has been promoted to program manager at DePaul Health Center's St. Vincent's Mental Health Division at St. Louis.
Creech, a native of Cape Girardeau, daughter of Mrs. Betty Campbelll and the late Robert L. Campbell, was guest speaker at a "Attention Deficit Disorder" workshop held at the Vo-Tech school here last weekend.
In her new position, she is responsible for new and ongoing contemporary mental-health programs. She was also recently named a member of the board of directors for the Depressive/Manic Depressive Association of St. Louis.
Creech is a graduate of Cape Central High School and the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis.
Cheral Benthal of Cape Girardeau has joined The Hair Port, 2031 Independence as a hair stylist.
Benthal previously worked with Venture Hair Salon.
She has about two years experience as a hair stylist, and is a graduate of Stage One The Hair School in Cape Girardeau.
David Shell has been promoted to assistant vice president of the Real Estate Department at Boatmen's Bank.
In his new position, Shell is responsible for all types of residential and commercial real estate lending. He joined the bank in 1991 as a real estate officer.
Shell previously worked as a loan officer for Mercantile Bank of Stoddard/Bollinger counties. His experience includes managing loans and collections for Savings of America in Sikeston.
Shell attended Arkansas State University, and is currently attending the Graduate School of Banking of Colorado. He is a member of the Cape County Board of Realtors.
Dr. Charles H. Cozean Jr., a Cape Girardeau ophthalmologist, has been elected to the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation's Board of Governors.
The board is comprised of individuals who have an interest in the activities of the Missouri Lions Eye Tissue Bank, and the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation.
Cozean has been performing cornea transplants since 1968.
Mary Dunn, executive director of the Southeast Missouri Business Group on Health, will be speaker for the Cape Girardeau Area Personnel Association (CAPA) meeting, to be held Oct. 20 at noon at the Drury Lodge.

Ann Swanson, manager of Gulliver's Travel Agency, Cape Girardeau, recently returned from an educational tour to Russia and Finland.
She visited Moscow and toured the Kremlin Fortress, Armory Museum and numerous Russian Orthodox Churches. In Finland she visited Helsinki's Lutheran Cathedral, the monument to composer, Sibelius and the 14th century village of Porvoo.
James McCaig of Cape Girardeau has been honored by the Missouri Goodwill Industries.
McCaig received a certificate of achievement for his development in learning skills, work, and determination. Also receiving an award of appreciation was Russ Neal, general manager of Taco Bell for his participation in developing McCaig's skills.
Carol Sides, placement specialists with Missouri Goodwill Industries, which specializes in job placement for people with various types of disabilities, presented the awards. Present during the ceremony were Tonya Fambro of Vocational Rehabilitation and Janet Hansen of Missouri Goodwill Industries.
Lisa Dunaway, of Gulliver's Travel Agency, Inc., recently participated in a cruise ship inspection and seminar sponsored by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, in Miami, Fla.
She toured the line's headquarters and two of the company's ships Nordic Empress and Majesty of the Seas. She also took part in a sightseeing tour of Miami.
Ethel Turley of Farmington, a consultant with BeautiControl Cosmetics the Total Image Company, was recently honored during a national convention in Houston, Tex., for BeautiControl consultants.
Turley's unit was the top producing unit in the Midwest Region of BeautiControl Cosmetics. She recruited more than 12 skincare and Image Company consultants. Her unit was also featured in a recent issue (Sept. 17) of USA Today.
