David B. Ross, director of the Show Me Center on the Southeast Missouri State University campus, has completed requirements for Certified Facilities Executives (CFE) certification.
The International Association of Auditorium Managers (IAAM) has confirmed that Ross is one of six new CFE certifications this year. He is one of only 147 certified facilities executives in the world.
To qualify for CFE designation, a facility executive must show evidence of outstanding work experience. A principal requirement is six years of experience in the top two levels of public assembly facility's management structure, and a graduate of a four-year college or university.
Candidates must also submit a written paper detailing their management philosophy as well as successfully completing an oral and written examination.
Jim Wareham, general sales manager at KFVS-TV, has been promoted to vice president and general manager of WWTV television station at Columbus, Ga., headquarters of AFLAC Insurance, parent company of KFVS and six other television stations.
Wareham, a native of Chicago, has been in the television and broadcast industry 20 years, and has worked at KFVS five years.
He was the originator and producer of "Heartland Cares," a telethon which raised $309,000 cash and more than $50,000 in merchandise for the victims of the "Flood of 1993."
"The telethon has been the highlight of my career," said Wareham.
Wareham is leaving the station which received the highest ratings of a CBS affiliate during July. "But, I will be going to a station which had the highest July ratings for an ABC affiliate," he said.
Jeffrey P. Hine, a partner with the law firm of Oliver, Oliver & Waltz, P.C., Cape Girardeau, is recipient of the Lon O. Hocker Award, presented by the Missouri Bar Foundation.
The awards are presented annually in memory of Lon O. Hocker, a St. Louis trial lawyer, to young lawyers who have demonstrated proficiency in the art of trial advocacy.
Hine was one of three persons receiving the Hocker award during the annual meeting of the Missouri Bar last weekend.
Hine joined the Oliver, Oliver & Waltz firm in 1984 after graduating from Southern Illinois University School of Law. He received a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Illinois in 1980 and taught high school math one year before entering law school.
He has practiced primarily in the area of insurance defense litigation, and has tried numerous cases in state and federal court in Missouri and Illinois. He has handled appeals in the Supreme Court of Missouri, the Missouri Court of Appeals and the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
He is a member of the Missouri Bar, Illinois State Bar and Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers.
Laura J. Treece of Jonesboro, Ill., has joined Tip of Illinois Health Services Inc., as a registered physical therapist.
Treece works out of the Anna office and provides services to patients in Johnson and Union counties.
Treece has more than seven years experience in the therapy field. She has a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the University of Evansville, Ind. She previously worked at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Helena M. Hicks has joined Dial-A-Page as sales representative.
Hicks, who attended Southeast Missouri State University, has been associated with Southeast Missouri Hospital the past three years as a client service representative/plebotomist.
Dial-A-Page, 121 S. Broadview in Cape Girardeau, is a privately-owned paging company, and services areas in seven states. Hicks will call on areas in Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff and Dexter, and in Carbondale, Ill., and Paducah, Ky.
Scott Graham, manager of the Jackson MFA Agri-Services Center, has completed requirements to become a Certified Crop Adviser (CCA).
Requirements include a mix of education and experience, participation in annual continuing education programs, and a 300-question test which covers soil fertility, soil and water management, plant growth and pest management.
MFA Inc. is a farm supply cooperative supplying feed, seed, fertilizer and farm supplies to farmers in addition to purchasing grain from farmers.
Richard W. Bradshaw, a registered representative of Prudential Insurance and Financial Services, recently attended the 1993 "Ring of Champions" conference, held at Buttes Mountain Resort in Tempe, Ariz.
Qualifications were based on sales and services.
Bradshaw's office is located at 1636 Independence.
Bruce Scheeter of Cape Girardeau has received certification at the national level in categories of mammal and fish taxidermy by the National Taxidermist Association (NTA).
The NTA certification program is designed to recognize taxidermists who have won awards for high quality standards in their work. Scheeter, who operates Show Case Taxidermy, has been a winner at several Missouri and Arkansas state taxidermy competitions. He has also attended educational workshops and seminars.
Wendell Bailey has joined Llama Company and Llama Asset Management Co., of Fayetteville, Ark., as marketing director.
Bailey, former Missouri state treasurer, was ranked number one in the nation by the National Association of State Treasurers in the category of cash management.
"That fits our style," said Alice Walton, a principal of the company. Walton announced Bailey's appointment last week.
Bailey was a frequent visitor to Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri when he served as state treasurer.
