Cheryl Ziegler of Jackson has been promoted to vice president in the real estate loan department at Boatmen's Bank of Cape Girardeau.

Ziegler joined the bank in 1981 as a real estate loan associate. In 1986 she was promoted to real estate loan officer and two years later was promoted to assistant vice president.

In her new position, Ziegler's primary responsibilities include residential and home equity loans.

Ziegler has an associate's degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She is attendeding the Mid-South School of Banking at Memphis, Tenn.

She has also completed a number of specialized real estate banking schools. She is a board member and treasurer of Southeast Missouri Home Building Association and a member of the Cape County Board of Realtors.

Dr. Robert Kessinger, a specific chiropractor at Kessinger Clinic in Cape Girardeau, recently attended the Kale Chiropractic International Convention at Ashville, N.C., where Kessinger was recognized for his mission work in Russia.

Kessinger is the foreign mission coordinator for the Kale Network and one of 15 doctors from around the world who is a fellow Kale certified specific brain stem specialist.

Dr. T.J. Glenn, a Cape Girardeau physician, has received the Physician's Recognition Award.

The award, presented by the Missouri State Medical Association and the American Medical Association, is earned by physicians who voluntarily complete 150 credit hours of continuing medical education courses in a three-year period.

Leah M. Vails has joined Marilyn's Hair Salon, 125 N. Main, as a manicurist.

She has more than four years experience.

Vails attended the Clip Joint School of Cosmetology at Springfield, Mo.

Betty Sargent, secretary in the department of criminal justice at Southeast Missouri State University, recently attended the Professional Secretaries International Conference in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Sargent was the delegate for the Girardot Chapter of PSI in Cape Girardeau. More than 1,500 participants from around the world attended the conference.

Peter Fayard has been named occupational therapy supervisor at St. Francis Medical Center.

Fayard, a native of Shreveport, La., has more than 18 years experience with background in both adult and pediatric rehabilitation. Prior to joining St. Francis, he was director of the occupational therapy department at Tri-State Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in Evansville, Ind. His major areas of clinical interest include brain injury, stroke, and pulmonary rehabilitation.

He received his bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy at Western Michigan University at Kalamazoo and earned a master's degree in occupational therapy at Teas Woman's University in Denton.

Dee Bear has been appointed engineering coordinator of the Dana Corporation Spicer Axle Division plant at Cape Girardeau.

Dave Blanchard, plant manager, announced Bear's appointment last week.

Bear has been with the Dana Axle Division 20 years. He was supervisor of the Manufacturing Design Department at Fort Wayne, Ind., before moving to Cape.

Bear is a graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology.
