Bonnie Schnurbusch has been named administrator at the Cape Girardeau Residential Care Center that will open in March.

The residential center, 2910 Beaver Creek Drive, will include 17 residential rooms, allowing for both private and semi-private accommodations.

The facility, owned by Americare Systems Inc., based in Sikeston, provides for 24-hour personal assistance.

Schnurbusch, who previously worked at Farmington Presbyterian Manor, has a bachelor's degree in health management.

Seven members of the Cape Girardeau Association of Life Underwriters have received National Sales Achievement Award (NSAA) honors. They were:

T. Ronald Hahs, David L. Hahs, Howard LaChance, Laura Faye Thomas, David Rudert, Lee Ann Slaughter and Lawrence Clement.

Also presented during the recent meeting of local group were National Quality Awards. To qualify for this award, professionals must have sold a stipulated number of life insurance polices over a 13-month period, of which 90 percent are still in force.

Receiving this award were:

T. Ronald Hahs, David Hahs, LaChance, Rudert, Slaughter, Kevin Gerlach, Robert Krone, Joe McKeon, Rosemary Davis, Ronald Lungwitz, Robert Rueseler, Michael Hopen, Don Menard and Thomas Higgins.

Ken Keller has joined Dana Corp.'s Spicer Axle Division at the Cape Girardeau facility, 2075 Corporate Circle, as facilities engineering coordinator.

Keller joined Dana in 1965 as a machine operator at Fort Wayne, Ind. He is a Dana certified supervisor and has served as a tooling engineer, responsible for all cutting tools and abrasive grinding wheels, for the past eight years.

Keller land his wife, Marynelle, are in the process of relocating to Cape Girardeau.

Judy Arnold, manager of final paging and add support, has been named "Employee of the Year" at the Southeast Missourian. '

She was selected from among the 12 "Employee of the Month" individuals saluted by the newspaper.

Kevin Dillon of McClure, Ill., has been named "Showman of the Year" in recognition of entertainment excellence from Wehrenberg Theatres, headquartered in St. Louis.

Dillon is general manager of West Park 4 Cine, West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau.

Dillon was also recognized for his promotion of senior citizen movies he shows the first and third Wednesday of each month and the summer series for children.

He is a graduate of Shawnee High School at Wolf Lake, Ill., and Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in business administration.

Jim Strop, employee of the month in May, has been named "Employee of the Year" at the Cape Girardeau Missouri Veterans Home.

Strop works in the housekeeping department.

A native of Cape Girardeau, Strop served in the Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959. He later attended auto body repair schools in Memphis and Kansas City.

R. Wayne Nesslein has been promoted to senior vice president at Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau.

Nesslein's promotion is one of four announced recently by O.J. Miller, president and chief executive officer.

Also receiving promotions were Craig E. Wells, Deborah Bess and Eileen Holman.

Nesslein joined Mercantile Bank in 1991, after a 20-year career in the savings and loan business.

Wells was promoted to executive vice president. He joined Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau in 1993 after working seven years with Mercantile Bank of Springfield and Mercantile Bank of St. Louis.

Bess was named mortgage loan representative-officer. She joined Mercantile in 1989 and has worked in the real estate department since that time.

Holman was promoted to credit administration officer. She joined Mercantile in 1991. She previously worked for an accounting firm in the Cape Girardeau area.

Jewell Cox of Cape Girardeau has been honored for more than 30 years service with United Parcel Service, headquartered at Earth City, Mo.

Cox, a tractor-trailer supervisor with UPS in Cape Girardeau, joined UPS as a delivery driver in 1965. He was promoted to a supervisory position in 1973.

Shelly Conrad McDowell of Jackson has joined Super Styles Salon, 502 W. Main in Jackson.

McDowell, who has more than three years experience, specializes in hair cutting, perms, coloring, waxing and manicuring.

Super Styles is a full-service salon.

McDowell will be available for appointments after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 9 to noon Saturday.

Fifty managers and employees of Tip of Illinois Heath Services Inc. have completed a 12-month management course series at John A. Logan Community College at Carterville.

Course topics included basic management principles, stress management, business writing, hiring procedures and more. Among those receiving certificates were Evelyn Taylor of McClure, Geraline Pentsil of Mounds, Jean Woodring and Vanassa Thomas of Cairo and Trudee Wynn of Anna.

Tip of Illinois, headquartered at Carterville, serves the lower 25 Southern Illinois counties from 14 sites.
