Reid Abercrombie has joined Commerce Bank at Cape Girardeau as a commercial banking officer in the lending department.
Abercrombie has more than six years experience in banking. He previously worked at Tamms State Bank, as a teller, loan clerk and loan officer. Abercrombie is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in finance.
In another personnel announcement, Monica L. Hill has been promoted to loan clerk at Commerce Bank.
Hill joined Commerce Bank in April 1994 and has been working as a teller. She is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in finance.
Terry J. Bass of Jackson, a medical representative for Berlex Laboratories, has received the professional designation of Certified Medical Representative.
The CMR designation is awarded by the Certified Medical Representatives Institute Inc. on completion of a 2 1/2-year home study program.
Bass, who joined the Berlex company in 1987, is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in biology.
Tony Martin, recreation coordinator at Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University, has been named "Employee of the Year" at the center.
Martin joined the Cottonwood program in August 1989.
Cottonwood is a Department of Mental Health facility that provides residential psychiatric treatment services to children and adolescents who have emotional and behavioral problems.
Jeff Hurst of Cape Girardeau has joined WaterFurnace Midwest Inc. as a new sales consultant for the Southern Missouri and Southern Illinois area.
Hurst, who earned an associate of technology degree from Linn Technical College in 1989, has a background in the heating and cooling field. He has studied residential and commercial electrical wiring, refrigeration and sheet metal fabrication.
Hurst earned an Asbestos Professional License in 1990, and was certified for RSES and IMACA refrigeration in 1994.
WaterFurnace Midwest specializes in residential and commercial geothermal heating and cooling systems.
Joe Aden has been appointed director of Southern Illinois Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust.
The appointment was announced recently by Edward M. Smith, president of the Southern Illinois Laborers' District Council and regional manager of the Laborers' International Union Midwest Region.
Aden, who has been mayor of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., since 1977, will work from the Laborers' Union LECET office in Benton, Ill., and will represent the membership of 22 local unions throughout Southern Illinois.
Aden has more than 20 years experience in education, including 10 years as director of a substance abuse prevention program that covered 12 counties in Southern Illinois. He has a bachelor's degree from Union University at Jackson, Tenn., and master's degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
Kevin J. Essner, vice president at Tamms State Bank, Tamms, Ill., has been named to the Illinois Bankers Association's Agricultural Lending School Board of Trustees.
The appointment was announced recently by IBA president Robert Wallace.
Steven Fritzler of Cape Girardeau recently attended a national sales and educational conference sponsored by Aid Association for Lutherans.
Fritzler qualified to attend the AAL executive conference at San Antonio based on outstanding sales and services to AAL members during 1994.
Fritzler joined AAA's field staff in 1989. He is an associate of the Jack Hollingsworth Agency of AAL, Independence.
AAL, headquartered in Appleton, Wis., provides Lutherans and their families with life insurance and retirement products.
R.J. McCallister of KBOA Radio in Kennett is president-elect of the Missouri Associated Press Broadcasters.
Newsman Dave Keiser of KMOV-TV in St. Louis was elected president.
Forrest Miesner and Brenda Miesner have joined Ambassador Real Estate, 2861 Bloomfield Road in Cape Girardeau.
Both are members of the National Association of Realtors, the Missouri Association of Realtors and the Cape Girardeau County Multiple Listing Service Inc.
The Miesners recently moved into the area from Southern Illinois. Forrest Miesner, previously employed with I.C. Railroad, is currently employed by Roadway Express at Scott City.
