Dean S. Beggs has accepted a position with Dell Computer Corp. in Austin, Texas.
In his new position, Beggs will work in strategic planning, financial and systems analysis and design for Dell's Desktop Publishing systems.
Beggs previoulsy worked with Santa Fe Railway Co. as a product manager in the minerals and ores custom business group. He joined Santa Fe Railroad in 1991 as a business analyst in decision support systems and analysis.
Beggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley K. Beggs of Jackson, graduated last weekend from the University of Dallas with a master's degree in business administration in international management.
Marie Butler has joined Tip of Illinois Health Services Inc. as a home health aide based at Tip's Olive Branch office.
Butler of Tamms has five years experience in the medical field. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate in 1990 at Shawnee Community College. She was previously employed as a CNA at Spanish Oak Center in Anna.
Tip serves the lower 26 counties in Southern Illinois, providing physical therapy, nursing, home health aid and hospice services.
Cory Cates of Charleston has been appointed new production director for Oldies 100.7, Mix 104.7 and Newstalk 1550 radio stations in Cape Girardeau. Cates has seven years experience in radio.
John Versheldon, a 1993 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and Bill Bonney, have also joined the stations' sales staff. Bonney, previously employed by Superior Office Supply, also has on-air experience as a play-by-play sports broadcaster.
Rick Lambert, general manager of the three stations, announced the appointments.
W. R. Withers has been promoted to assistant vice president at Boatmen's Bank.
Withers of Cape Girardeau serves as manager of loan recoveries at Boatmen's Mount Auburn bank.
Withers, who attended Southeast Missouri State University, joined Farmers & Merchants Bank in 1980. Boatmen's purchased Boatmen's in 1982.
Bill Beydler, Southeast Missouri territory manager for the National Federation of Independent Business, recently attended the group's President's Club awards banquet in San Diego.
Beydler was among territory managers who were honored for achievement in 1994.
Beydler is part of the company's Summit Club for territory managers who achieved 150 percent of their 1994 objectives.
David and Noretta Blattner, owners of the Fireplace Center-Rivercity Masonry, 1028 N. Kingshighway, recently attended a four-day National Hearth & Home Show in Las Vegas.
Featured at the show were the latest in fireplaces, gas logs, stoves and other products for the home. A number of the products featured at the show are on display at the Fireplace Center.
Jim Burke, AAA sales agent in Cape Girardeau, has received AAA's Gold Seal Agent Award for 1994.
The award is presented for meeting goals in auto insurance sales, loss ratios and policyholder services.
In addition to being recognized as a Gold Seal Agent for the fourth year in a row, Burke was also AAA's eastern division recipient of an Underwriting Award.
Burke has been an AAA sales agent since 1986. The AAA Auto Club of Missouri provides motoring, travel and insurance services.
Richard and Sandy Estes Hastings, owners of Servpro of Cape Girardeau/Scott County, recently sponsored the Servpro State Convention in St. Louis.
Richard Hastings is director of Servpro franchises in Missouri.
A featured speaker at the convention was Derieck Hodges of Albrecht-Hodges Insurance Agency in Cape Girardeau, who discussed workers' compensation.
Mr. and Mrs. Hastings will attend the Servpro National Convention in Washington in June.
Gary Lasater of Ford and Sons Cape Girardeau County Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum recently attended the 1995 International American Cemetery Association Sales Management and Marketing Conference, held at Atlanta.
The educational program is designed to further professional leadership within the cemetery industry.
Lasater, a Sikeston native, attended Southeast Missouri State University. He served as manager of a men's clothing store in Sikeston 13 years before joining Ford and Sons in 1993.
Kenneth Orr of Imperial, formerly of Oran, has been elected a director of Rock Township Ambulance District in Jefferson County.
Orr, a licensed paramedic for 12 years, is employed as a paramedic-firefighter by the Metro West Fire Protection District. He is also an EMS instructor.
Dr. Shanon T. Kirchhoff recently attended a course on forensic dentistry, sponsored by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and the American Registry of Pathology.
The weeklong course focused on dental identification, bitemark analysis and other topics.

Frank Adams, vice president and general manager of Thorngate's Cape Girardeau operations, accepted a special Business Conference award for the company for its cooperation with the university and Chamber of Commerce.
The award was presented during the Business Conference luncheon at the Show Me Center.
