Elements spa hires massage therapist, two stylists
Elements Salon and Spa, 2031 Cape LaCroix Road in Cape Girardeau, has added two stylists and a massage therapist to its staff. Elishah Urbaez, formerly of Concepts Salon, and Leslie Seyer, formerly of J.C. Penney Salon, are the newest stylists on staff. Mindy Jones joins the salon as a massage therapist.
Spanley receives medical dosimetry certification
Jason Spanley, a radiation therapist at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, has earned board certification in the radiation oncology specialty of medical dosimetry by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. The field of medical dosimetry involves the measurement and calculation of the optimal and precise dose of radiation for cancer treatment. Dosimetrists use their knowledge of physics, anatomy and radiobiology to develop a number of treatment plans that can best destroy a tumor while sparing normal tissue. Medical dosimetrists must also have a working knowledge of oncology treatment machines and equipment and the procedures commonly used in brachytherapy.
Berens to debate on topic of home loan modifications
The American Bankruptcy Institute has chosen Paul H. Berens of Bradshaw, Steele, Cochrane & Berens, 3113 Independence St. in Cape Girardeau, to debate Counsel for The National Consumer Center regarding home loan modifications in Chapter 13. The debate will be Oct. 2 at the center's Midwestern Institute in Kansas City, Mo. Berens is a Fellow in The American College of Bankruptcy, listed in Best Lawyers in America and Top 100 Lawyers in St. Louis.
Two ABF Freight drivers announce retirement
Glen J. Beussink and Bill Barks, both of Cape Girardeau have retired from ABF Freight Systems. Beussink finished his 15-year career with the company with safety awards including 1 million miles of safe driving and numerous yearly honors. Barks worked as a driver for 17 years.
Modern Woodmen honors financial representatives
Modern Woodmen of America Fraternal Financial announced financial representatives in Missouri's East Region who made recent accomplishments. Bob Houchins of Jackson received the New Member Leader for the month of August. Virginia E. Dunn of Cape Girardeau attained the Fraternal Insurance Counsellor designation, which is earned through a yearly effort of exams and career development criteria.
Heuring attends accounting seminar
Rick Heuring, a partner in the accounting firm of Crouch, Farley & Heuring PC, 623 S. Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau, recently attended a training seminar on Social Security benefits. The training seminar was hosted by the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and was designed to equip CPAs to effectively advise clients who may be eligible for benefits. The seminar helped to foster an understanding of when to begin distributions, how survivor and disability benefits work and other details of Social Security. The training also focused, among other things, on identifying opportunities to increase social security benefits, gaining a perspective of how benefits are calculated and taxed and planning to recover all that was paid in.
