Erin Unerstall has accepted promotion within the Southeast Missourian and is serving as the paper's digital editor and op-ed coordinator. Before accepting this new position, Unerstall was a sports reporter for the paper, primarily covering Southeast Missouri State University athletics. Before joining the Southeast Missourian, she served as sports editor and editor of the Southeast Arrow and an intern at the Washington Missourian newspaper.
Her new position follows the departure of Katherine Webster, who held many positions within the Southeast Missourian since 2005.
Unerstall is enthusiastic about her new role.
"I've worked with such a great team of reporters in our sports department as well as our photography staff. The past three years have flown by because I got to work with great people, who I am lucky to have learned so much from," Unerstall said. "I'm so thankful for this new opportunity and hope that I can continue to learn and grow in this new role."

Saint Francis Healthcare System has announced the appointment of Julie Woodruff, RN, BSN, as surgical-services director for Saint Francis Healthcare System.
Woodruff joined Saint Francis in 1998. Since 2010, she has served as operating-room manager. She was a team coordinator for neurosurgery and assistant manager in the operating room and had experience as a nurse manager and surgical assistant for an OB-GYN practice.
She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University and is pursuing a master's degree in business administration.
As surgical services director, Woodruff will supervise and direct the administrative and clinical activities of the area. She reports directly to the vice president of patient care.

Broadway Prescription Shop has announced the addition of pharmacist Catherine Heaton to its team.
Heaton is a familiar face at Broadway Prescription Shop. From 2006 to 2011, she worked as a pharmacy technician while attending Southeast Missouri State University, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees.
Heaton recently graduated from South University School of Pharmacy in Savannah, Georgia. She received a Phi Lambda Sigma pharmacy leadership society distinction and was awarded a Pharmacist Mutual scholarship.
Heaton brings with her a focus on compounding medicine, and she plans to continue her education to study new compounding formulas and techniques.
"When traditional medicine doesn't work for a patient, compounding can be a solution for a better quality of life," Heaton said in a news release. "I look forward to working with my patients' health-care providers to find those solutions."
