Roger Seay, who has served as KFVS12's assistant news director for the past two years, has been promoted to news director for Heartland News.
He replaces Mark Little, who joined one of KSVS12's sister stations.
"We did a nationwide search to find the right person to lead Heartland News," said Dave Thomason, former KFVS12 general manager. "We're thrilled that person was right here in the station."
Seay's extensive local news experience at various respected TV stations and his knowledge of the KFVS12 viewing area made him the best candidate for the job, Thomason said.
Seay graduated from Murray State University with a master's degree in broadcast journalism. He worked at TV stations in Louisville, Kentucky; Portland, Oregon; and Cincinnati.
In his new position, Seay will oversee all areas of the station's on-air local news operations and its digital and social-media news content.
"As someone who spent many years in the heartland, it's a great honor to be the news director at KFVS12," Seay said in a news release. "Never in my wildest dreams did I think that a radio DJ at WPKY in Princeton, Kentucky, would get this chance. This station means so much to the community, and I look forward to the challenge of leading Heartland News."
