Verhines joins Birk Law Firm in Cape Girardeau

Cliff K. Verhines has joined Birk Law Firm LC of Cape Girardeau. Verhines previously worked as an assistant attorney general for Missouri specializing in workers compensation. In his new role at the Birk Law Firm, he will handle workers compensation cases as well as Social Security issues. Verhines received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2002 and also earned his undergraduate degree in political science there. Birk Law Firm is a full-service law firm at 106 Farrar Drive, Suite 107 in Cape Girardeau.

Wessel named development director at Saxony school

Rhonda Wessel has been hired as director of development for Saxony Lutheran High School. She has a business administration degree from Southeast Missouri State University. Her previous experience includes local and regional sales work, as well as management and fundraising. Saxony recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and has nearly 200 students enrolled.

Certified hair colorist West joins Belladonna Salon

Joseph West has joined the staff at Belladonna Salon and Spa, 201 S. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau. He has been a hair designer for almost 10 years, working in two top salons in St. Louis. He has completed extensive training and testing to earn a spot as one of the select few Redken Certified Hair Colorists in Missouri and the first in Cape Girardeau. West was chosen to become an educator for Redken Fifth Ave NYC. As a Redken Artist, he traveled throughout the United States educating other stylists in hair color. He also worked as a lead stylist for St. Louis Fashion Week. West specializes in corrective hair color.

Ken Kiefer recently joined Realty Executives of Cape County at 2511 Independence, Suite 100, in Cape Girardeau. Kiefer has been involved in insurance, financial services and real estate sales and investment since 1983. As an agent with Realty Executives, Kiefer will specialize in residential property sales in Cape County and the surrounding area. Kiefer is also involved in the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, the St. Vincent's Men's Association and the Missouri Farm Bureau.

Fisher recognized for repair industry achievements

Jasper Fisher, vice president and general manager of Rexel Motor Repair in Alton, Ill., formerly of Scott City, recently was recognized for his contributions to the electromechanical repair, service and sales industry. Fisher received the "Exceptional Achievement Service Award" June 27 at the annual convention of Electrical Apparatus Service Association in Orlando, Fla.

Lutes elected nurse association president at June convention

Diane Lutes of Jackson was recently elected president of the Missouri Association of Licensed Practical Nurses. Lutes has been a nurse for more than 20 years. She was elected at the 62nd annual convention of the organization held in June. The Missouri Association of Licensed Practical Nurses represents 24,000 LPNs in Missouri.

Volkerding named Modern Woodmen agent of the month

Ken Volkerding of Jackson was named district agent of the month for May and June by Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial. Volkerding has been a financial representative with the company since October 2004. Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial is a fraternal life insurance society providing life insurance and annuity products to more than 765,000 members nationwide.
