Cape Girardeau farmer Matthew McCrate joined with representatives from 14 states recently attending the Leadership at its Best program of the American Soybean Association. McCrate, a member of the Missouri Soybean Association board of directors, participated in the training designed to make him a more effective voice for soybean farmers. The training was held in conjunction with the American Soybean Association board meeting.

Financial agent named master agent for 2008

Country Financial agent Tim Caldwell of Tamms, Ill., was recently named a 2008 master agent. Caldwell joins 52 agents selected to receive the recognition from among more than 2,000 Country Financial agents in 14 states. Caldwell joined Country Financial in 1977. To obtain the master agent designation, Caldwell was required to have five years in the organization, be an all-American and qualify for all-American status in three other years. Caldwell has been an all-American 19 times.

Two from insurance agency go to conference

Chris Gross and Debbie Gross of Capital Insurance and Associates in Cape Girardeau attended the Missouri Association of Insurance Agents 18th annual small agency conference in Columbia, Mo. The program offered education in marketing, ethics and product training.

Donna J. Domian of Cape Girardeau, a financial adviser with Edward Jones, joined 56 other advisers from the firm recently in Washington, D.C., to lobby federal lawmakers to increase savings and retirement investment security. Domian is a member of the firm's Grassroots Network, dedicated to giving voice to the concerns of individual investors to local, state and national lawmakers.

Business recognizes two in area for achievements

Kay Waller of Cape Girardeau was named a top quarterly achiever for Mary Kay Cosmetics in Cape Girardeau by Jana Jateff, future executive senior sales director. Waller was named a sapphire star achiever, and Jateff was named a pearl achiever. Waller will be recognized at a reception in this month.

Insurance group names man as career agent

Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance announced that Dustin Hoesli of Cape Girardeau has been named a career agent in Cape Girardeau County. Hoesli has completed training that emphasized life, accident/health, property and casualty insurance. Hoesli is in the Farm Bureau office at 2907 Independence St.
