Saint Francis names overseer for Recovery Act compliance

Saint Francis Medical Center has named Aaron Spratt director of ARRA program implementation in medical affairs. ARRA is the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Spratt joined Saint Francis in July 2009 as accreditation compliance coordinator. He will report to Dr. James A. Schell II, vice president of medical affairs. Spratt's primary duty will be overseeing compliance with the meaningful-use requirements at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as Saint Francis implements an electronic medical record system. Spratt received both his bachelor of science and master of business administration from Southeast Missouri State University. His thesis, "Change Factors Affecting the Transition to an EMR System in a Private Physicians' Practice: An Exploratory Study," was published in the Academy of Health Care Management Journal in 2008.

Patient care manager chosen at Saint Francis

Tammy Hahn-Brown is now patient care manager of orthopedic services at Saint Francis Medical Center. She will report to Gerry Salter, service line director for orthopedics. Hahn-Brown joined Saint Francis in 1994 as a technician in the orthopedics unit while attending Southeast Missouri State University. She helped organize the opening of Saint Francis' Center for Joint Replacement in 2007. She also spent several years with Orthopedic Associates of Southeast Missouri before returning to Saint Francis. Hahn-Brown received her registered nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her bachelor's degree in nursing from Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo. She received her master's degree in nursing and nurse practitioner degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

Kelly Green and Casey Brunke recently attended the Transportation Engineers Association of Missouri conference in Branson, Mo. Green was elected president-elect of the statewide organization. Mark Shelton, Missouri Department of Transportation district engineer nominated Green for the office. The association promotes the advancement of knowledge in transportation design, construction, maintenance and operations, along with the promotion of all matters and interest pertaining to the welfare of public transportation in Missouri.

Cape Girardeau police officer promoted to sergeant

Cpl. Brad Smith has been promoted to sergeant with the Cape Girardeau Police Department. Smith has served the department since 1996. He received his bachelor of science in criminal justice and a minor in criminology from Southeast Missouri State University. He was promoted to corporal in 2006. He has been assigned to the patrol division for the past five years.

Patrolman Paul Zajicek has been promoted to corporal with the Cape Girardeau Police Department. Zajicek has served the department since 1999. He received his associate degree in the administration of justice at Belleville Area Community College in Illinois. Zajicek served in the patrol division for 10 years and then served in the detective division for almost a year before being promoted.
