Southeast promotes Rigdon

Jan Rigdon, a registered nurse, has been named executive director of Perioperative Services and the Cardiovascular Service Line at SoutheastHEALTH. Southeast chief operating officer Sly Moore said in this new position Rigdon will have a direct line reporting relationship with invasive cardiology, including cath lab and cath prep; non-invasive cardiology; cardiac outreach director; heart failure/chest pain center; and perioperative services which include pre-surgical testing, anesthesia technicians, central sterile, perfusion and pre-anesthesia. She also will have responsibility for the Hospital's operating suites and recovery rooms. Rigdon holds bachelor's and master's of science degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from William Woods University. She is certified as an operating room nurse and is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Since joining the Southeast staff in 2004, as director of perioperative services, Rigdon has championed a 14 percent growth in overall caseload from 2004 to 2010 and the establishment of perioperative materials management resulting in a $1.5 million stock status reduction.

Duckworth joins Alliance

Heidi Duckworth has joined Alliance Bank in Cape Girardeau as director of risk management. The position was previously held by Lori Fowler who was promoted to vice president/commercial lender. Duckworth has extensive banking experience in both compliance and operations having held key positions at Peoples Community Bank, headquartered in Greenville, Mo. The knowledge she has gained from over 13 years of banking experience handling compliance, technology, lending, and various operation's roles will give her the advantages needed to succeed in this position, said Cord Polen, Alliance bank president and CEO.

Professor receives award

Dr. Jai Dahiya, associate dean of the College of Science and Mathematics and professor of physics at Southeast Missouri State University, recently was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Economic Growth Society of India through the Finance Ministry of India. Dahiya received the award in December along with a $400 cash prize at the Economic Growth Society of India's annual national seminar in New Delhi, India. Dahiya, who delivered a paper at the 98th Indian Science Congress conference in Chennai on "Quantum Dot Nanoparticles in Bio-Medical Applications," said he has been invited to present papers at this conference the past 11 years continuously. As the recipient of the award, Dahiya was invited to speak at the Jat Uthan Sabha conference on Jan. 16 in New Delhi. The theme of the conference was "Contributions of JATS in National Building." Dahiya is a 2001 recipient of the Southeast Missouri State University Faculty Merit Award and the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has received the PRIDE Award from the Southeast College of Science and Mathematics in 2000, 2003 and 2009. He is a four-time recipient of the research award from the College of Science and Mathematics. He was the 2002 recipient of the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of North Texas.
