Local photographer wins award
Tom Neumeyer, owner of Neumeyer Photography in Cape Girardeau, earned a Juror's Award in the current Art for the Health of It Show. The juried show is sponsored by Southeast Missouri Hospital and the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. The winning photograph is a portrait of Peruvian lilies. This is Neumeyer's second Juror's Award in the show. He is producing a photodocumentary, "Cape Girardeau Then and Now." The accompanying book will be released this spring in conjunction with a photo exhibit to open at the same time.
Winery hires new executive chef
Chaumette Vineyards & Winery, 20 miles southwest of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., has announced the hiring of a new executive chef, Kevin Sthair, on March 1. A St. Louis native, Sthair has more than 12 years of chef experience, most recently at Cafe Balaban in St. Louis. Sthair will oversee the Grapevine Grill restaurant, catering for weddings and private events, design of a health-oriented spa menu to be offered at Chaumette's soon-to-open spa, and the development of the Grapevine Grill II, slated to open late this year.
Program manager attends AT&T meeting
Jim Bauer, AT&T program manager of Automation Services Co. Inc. in Cape Girardeau, attended the semiannual AT&T Advisory Council meeting in Dallas Tuesday. The meetings are conducted at AT&T regional offices and consist of daylong round table discussions between AT&T staff and top AT&T agents from the Southwest. AT&T provides the round-table discussions for its top agents to discuss products, procedures and services for the agents' business clients. Automation Services Co. Inc. was one of 12 agents attending the meeting.
Jackson Manor hires admissions director
Kenny Loos has been appointed as the new admissions and marketing director of Jackson Manor. A lifelong resident of Jackson, Loos has more than 25 years' sales experience.
Benton rep named agent of the month
Kasey Mathes-Klughart of Benton, Mo., a district representative with Modern Woodmen of America, was Agent of the Month in the Missouri East Agency for February. Modern Woodmen of America is a fraternal life insurance society based in Rock Island, Ill.
Bookkeeping service opens in Cape
Lois Nelson of Cape Girardeau has opened a bookkeeping service called Leave It for Lois at 232 Edgewood Drive. The business is geared toward small-business owners and farmers, but also offers personal bookkeeping services. Nelson has more than 20 years of experience in farming and small-business bookkeeping.
