Local surgeon inducted into American College of Surgeons
Dr. W. Ray Silliman was among 1,189 people who recently became fellows of the American College of Surgeons during convocation ceremonies at the college's recent annual Clinical Congress in San Francisco. Silliman received a medical doctorate degree in 2001 from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He is practicing at Cape Girardeau Surgical Clinic, 60 Doctors' Park. In 2007, Silliman attained board certification from the American Board of Surgery.
Allen named top sales adviser at Cape Girardeau lia sophia
Glenda Allen, a lia sophia sales adviser from Cape Girardeau, received the Excellent Beginnings Program Achievers award for sales accomplishments. Allen earned the award in her first 15 weeks by attaining certain sales levels and recruiting potential new advisors. Lia sophia is an in-home jewelry sales company.
Dunn, Price achieve milestones at Modern Woodmen agency
Ginger Dunn of Scott City and Krysten Price of Cape Girardeau completed Kaplan Financial's Introduction to Advanced Markets Course. Dunn and Price both started with Modern Woodmen in July. Modern Woodmen of America's local office is at 1427 Thomas Drive in Cape Girardeau.
Harris named captain for state fitness center association
Darren Harris has been renamed the Missouri state captain for the Medical Fitness Center Association. Harris, health and fitness coordinator at Fitness Plus, has been state captain for two consecutive years. Harris has been health and fitness coordinator at Fitness Plus since 2005 and specializes in weight loss and creating personalized fitness plans. He earned his bachelor of science degree in health management from Southeast Missouri State University.
Wood & Huston Bank names Witherby to vice president post
Becky Witherby of Fruitland has been promoted to vice president at Wood & Huston Bank in Cape Girardeau. Witherby, who has been with the bank seven years, has 35 years of banking experience and is responsible for real estate lending and compliance within the Cape Girardeau market. She is a graduate of the Illinois School of Community Bankers and lives in Fruitland with her husband, Kent.
LeGrand Bros. welcomes back two former employees
Sandy Bartels and Harold Stone have returned to LeGrand Bros. Transmission. Bartels is a service writer, and Stone is a member of the rebuilding team. LeGrand Bros. is on Route W about 1 1/2 miles past the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri near Cape Girardeau.
