SEMO professor receives award for teaching
Dr. Bruce Domazlicky, a professor of economics at Southeast Missouri State University, has been awarded the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and was expected to receive the PRIDE Award during commencement exercises last weekend. Gov. Bob Holden recently recognized 69 outstanding faculty from Missouri's post-secondary schools, colleges and universities during the 2003 Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching luncheon in Springfield, Mo.
Cairo woman added to WIB staff in Cape
Lavern Bartlett of Cairo, Ill., has been employed by the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri as a youth council coordinator. Bartlett has worked with other youth programs including the Teen Reach program in Cairo. Bartlett graduated from Scott County Central High in 1982. She got her degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1988.
Two join Elements Salon in Cape Girardeau
Christy Pittman and Connie Willsey have joined Elements Salon in Cape Girardeau. Pittman has nine years experience in hair design. She has trained in New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Tennessee. Willsey is a licensed massage therapist and a member of the Missouri chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association. Willsey attended the AMTA Missouri State Convention in April and completed 12 hours of continuing education training.
Entrepreneur earns free Kirby home care systems
Jeff Emmenderfer, who operates a Kirby distributorship in Cape Girardeau, recently received 48 Kirby home care systems from Kirby Co. The prize is part of the Challenge of Champions Campaign, a yearlong promotion in which distributors can win prizes and trips for reaching their business goals.
