Cairo native honored for interior, floral design

Cairo, Ill., native Kris Bagbey has been named the Second most popular interior/floral designer by the Greater Nashville House and Home Magazine for 2006. The award is chosen through an extensive yearly poll of readers of the Greater Nashville House and Home magazine in search of professional skill and acuity, creativity and customer savvy. Bagbey received high marks in all three areas. He is an 11-year professional with the Franklin, Tenn., branch of the Paducah, Ky.-based Trees n Trends, where he supervises the design department. Under his guidance, his staff of three designers and a visual merchandiser worked as a team to win first place in the readers poll for Floral Silk Arrangements. He is the former owner and operator of The Flower Center in Cairo.

Carbondale Workforce hires Cape man

Workforce Employment Solutions has announced the addition of John Briggs to its Carbondale, Ill., staff. Briggs joined in October. Briggs, originally from Oklahoma, moved to Cape Girardeau with his family in 2002. Since moving to Cape Girardeau, he has served the community in a staffing position for another company before joining Workforce. In his position with Workforce, Briggs is responsible for interviewing and assessing potential candidates, customer service and client relations.

Four in Cape named 'super lawyers'

Cape Girardeau lawyers Paul Henry Berens, Jeffrey P. Hine, Michael D. Murphy and Richard D. Steele have been named Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers by Law & Politics for 2006. Berens was named for his work in the area of bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights. Hine was named in the area of personal injury defense, general. Murphy was named for work in personal injury defense, products. Steele was named in the area of insurance coverage. Berens and Steele practice with Bradshaw, Steele, Cochrane and Berens. Hine and Murphy practice with Osburn, Hine, Kuntze, Yates and Murphy. Only 5 percent of the lawyers in Missouri and Kansas are listed as "super lawyers."

Real estate agent completes course

Sharon Gill of Realty Executives of Cape County has completed the Realtor e-pro course to become one of a few real-estate professionals to earn the certification offered through the National Association of Realtors. The certification course is designed to provide the technology tools needed to assist consumers in the purchase or sale of a home, and certifies them as Internet professionals.
