Practitioners inducted into dentist college

Cape Girardeau orthodontist David W. Feuerhahn and oral surgeon Robert L. Ward, were recently inducted as fellows into the International College of Dentists. The college is an honorary organization for the recognition of outstanding and meritorious service to the profession and community.

Big River hires six former Clas.net employees

In the wake of Big River Telephone Co.'s acquisition of Clas.net, the Cape Girardeau company has announced the hiring of six of Clas.net's former workers. Andrew Shain, Carolyn Davis, Kim Barnard, Trafton Clark, Phillip Hupp and Phil Matrisotto will be the newest members of the Big River team.

Man joins team for CPU Inc. in Cape Girardeau

Tom Schreiner has joined CPU Inc. of Cape Girardeau. He has more than 10 years of experience in computer network administration, designing and implementing.

Professor wins grant for historical research

The State Historical Society of Missouri recently announced that professor J. Christopher Schnell is a recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Richard S. Brownlee Foundation. This award was given to the Southeast Missouri State University history teacher to assist with research on "Missouri's Governors and the New Deal: Guy B. Park and Lloyd C. Stark."

Area doctor inducted into college of surgeons

Dr. Gregg S. Hallman of Cape Girardeau Urology Associates Inc. was recently inducted as a fellow into the American College of Surgeons during the college's 90th Clinical Congress. The college is a scientific and educational association of surgeons. Acceptance into the college requires the physician to undergo rigorous evaluation of education, training, professional qualifications, surgical competence and ethical conduct.

Area accountant attends conference

William R. Schott, CPA with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants recently attended the 32nd annual "Managing an Accounting Practice" conference sponsored by the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. Classes at the conference covered strategies for helping clients manage their retirement income, as well as administrative, management, employment and technical topics.

English professor elected chief of scholars group

Southeast Missouri State University English professor Dean Monahan was recently elected Missouri president of the National Association of Scholars. The organization has about 7,000 members and includes all university studies.

Cape native named top of medical society

Dr. Barbara Ann Berry was recently elected president of the Maricopa County Medical Society in Phoenix, Ariz. Berry is a native of Cape Girardeau and a graduate of Central High School. She is the daughter of Helen M. Loos of Cape Girardeau.

Sikeston man wins community college award

Sikeston businessman Steve McPheeters recently received the Distinguished Business/ Industry Award from the Missouri Community College Association. The award recognizes those who encourage strong relationships between education and industry. McPheeters is a superintendent for Noranda Aluminum, as well as executive director of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce. He is also helped establish the Sikeston Area Higher Education Center, a joint venture between Three Rivers Community College and Southeast Missouri State University.
