Meteorologist earns weather designation
Meteorologist Brian Alworth of the KFVS12 StormTeam has earned the certified broadcast meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. Alworth is the first local television or radio weathercaster in the region to earn this designation. The AMS grants the designation to those who meet criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.
Lee Roy Cook has been hired as the new general manager of Young Guttering, Siding and Soffits, owner Gary Arnold announced last week. Cook was previously employed with Buchheit in building material sales and another lumber company in Cape Girardeau. Young Guttering does siding, gutters and soffits, as well as leaf guards and gutter cleaning.
Laurie Pleimann of Cape Girardeau has joined River City Imaging MRI as the new marketing director. Pleimann graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1992 with a degree in English and elementary education. River City Imaging is owned by Rick Ross.
Cell technician Bob Crowley of Sikeston, Mo., has been named Dana Corp.'s November employee of the month. He has worked at the Cape Girardeau facility since 1994.
Crown Valley Winery in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., has appointed a new winemaker, Daniel Alcorso. Alcorso was born in Sydney, Australia, and moved to Tasmania, where his grandfather had planted a small vineyard in the 1950s. What started out as a hobby to make wine for family and friends grew over time into a cluster of vineyards and a 150-ton winery.
John Cleary of Eureka, Mo., has joined Cape Girardeau-based Big River Telephone as an account executive for the St. Louis region. He will concentrate on managing Big River Telephone's existing and expanding customer base in the St. Louis market. Cleary has a master's degree in marketing and 15 years of sales and marketing experience in the telecommunications industry.
Ken Pemberton, the Cape Girardeau investment representative for Edward Jones, was one of several representatives honored recently at a business management forum in St. Louis. Pemberton was recognized for the excellent business-management skills he has demonstrated.
