Three Elite Travel workers graduate
Eric Denson, Laura Poole and Sandy Wahlsmith of Elite Travel and Cruises recently graduated from MLT University in Minneapolis, Minn. MLT University provides training for agents to increase knowledge on worldwide destinations. While in Minneapolis, Denson, Poole and Wahlsmith visited the Mall of America, which is the newest product line offered by MLT Vacations.
McCulley now manager at American Homecare
Melinda McCulley of Cape Girardeau has been named branch manager of American Homecare Management's Cape Girardeau office. The local branch services five counties, including Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Perry, Scott and Stoddard.
American Homecare Management provides assistance with housework, meal preparation, shopping for groceries and picking up prescriptions. The Missouri Division of Senior Services also may be able to help with costs for elderly or disabled.
American Homecare is at 1707 N. Mount Auburn Road.
Local CPAs attend industry conference
Bill Schott and Scott A. Van de Ven, both CPAs with Schott & Van de Ven, attended the Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) Conference.
Sponsored by the Missouri Society of CPAs, the 30th annual conference was held in Kansas City, Mo. CPA professionals from eight Midwestern states attended the two-day event. Core classes covered administrative, management, employment and technical topics.
Schott has been a member of the MAP committee since it began and has only missed three conferences in 30 years. He has the designation of Eagle for his dedication, service and contribution to the profession over a number of years.
Area broker now on Realtor Web site
Sandy Helwege, a broker and salesperson at Century 21 Key Realty, can now be found on Realtor. com, the official Internet site of the National Association of Realtors. With over 2 million listings from over 800 Multiple Listings Services, Realtor.com has more than 90 percent of U.S. single-family Realtor listed homes.
Area accountant completes two courses
Holly A. Thomas, CPA, CSEP, with Schott & Van de Ven Certified Public Accountants completed two classes recently. One dealt with alternative minimum tax and the other estate, retirement and financial planning principles. The classes covered practical problem solving and planning techniques to help clients.
Thomas holds the designation of certified specialist in estate planning and is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs.
Mary Kay consultant reports high sales
Jana Jateff, the sales director of Cape Girardeau's Mary Kay office, has announced that Leslie Thresher of East Prairie, Mo., along with her team, has produced more than $32,000 in retail sales for a four-month period of time.-- From staff reports
