Area man named Optometrist of the Year

The Missouri Optometric Association has named Cape Girardeau optometrist Kyle Brost the 2006 Optometrist of the Year. Brost and his wife, Chris, own Brost & Associates Family Eye Care. The practice has offices in Cape Girardeau, Perryville, Fredericktown and Charleston. He has served as president-elect, president, immediate past president, treasurer and secretary of MOA as well as sitting on various MOA committees. He currently is president of the North Central States Optometric Council. Brost also is chairman of the Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation and is on the Lions Club Board of Directors.

Investment rep increases share in Edward Jones

Juanita Penfield, the Edward Jones investment representative in Cape Girardeau, has accepted an invitation to increase her limited partnership holdings in The Jones Financial Cos., the St. Louis-based financial services firm's holding company. Penfield is a St. Louis native who joined Edward Jones in 1998.

At-home America, a direct seller of home-decorating accents, has named Sharlene Cahill of Chaffee, Mo., and Jackson residents Patty Gerlach and Stacie Dotson Homestyle specialists with the company.

Century 21 owner named to broker group

Ken Inman, broker owner of Century 21 Ashland Realty, Century 21 Heartland Realty and Century 21 Key Realty, has been named to the Century 21 system's Nation Broker's Communication Congress. He will serve a two-year term, representing the more than 185 Century 21 offices in the company's five-state Heartland Region. The congress meets biannually to give feedback to the international headquarters management team and to discuss market trends.

Outman receives surgical fellowship

Dr. James Outman III has been named a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Outman practices with Urology Associates in Cape Girardeau. The initiation came during convocation ceremonies of the American College of Surgeons' Clinical Congress in Chicago. Among other requirements, an applicant for Fellowship must be a graduate of an approved medical school and must have completed advanced training in one of the 14 surgical specialties recognized by the college.
