Cape man wins national service award
The Northwestern Mutual Foundation announced recently that David Hahs of Cape Girardeau has been named an "outstanding volunteer" in Northwestern Mutual's national Community Service Award program. Hahs was selected as a winner for his contribution to Saxony Lutheran High School in Jackson. Hahs was presented with the Community Service Award during Northwestern Mutual's Annual Meeting of Network Representatives in July at the company's headquarters in Milwaukee, Wis. A $10,000 grant will be presented to the Saxony Lutheran High School from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation.
Mike Van de Ven, a former Cape Girardeau resident, was recently promoted to executive vice president of aircraft operations for Southwest Airlines in Dallas, Texas. Van de Ven, a graduate of Central High School and the University of Texas, has been with Southwest Airlines for the past 12 years. His responsibilities cover dispatch, flight operations, maintenance, safety and security, and schedule planning.
Andrea Pecaut has been named "front of the house manager" at the local Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar in Cape Girardeau. Pecaut's responsibilities include scheduling events and banquets for the VIP room, customer satisfaction and assisting with take-outs and deliveries. Local franchise owner Bill Zellmer said with the newly extended operational hours, it was necessary to enlarge the management team. Pecaut, a native of Perryville, Mo., has five years' experience in the restaurant field.
Cell leader Travis Goode of Cape Girardeau has been named Dana Corp.'s September employee of the month. Goode has worked at Dana since Sept. 4, 1990.
