Veterans commission names program director
The Missouri Veterans Commission has appointed James S. Baughn as the director of the Service to Veterans program. Baughn began his new position Aug. 1 in Jefferson City, Mo. He was first hired as a veterans service officer in Poplar Bluff in 1997. In 2002, he was promoted to supervisor of the Southeast region in Cape Girardeau. In 2004, he moved to Jefferson City. He served 15 years in the U.S. Air Force and is currently a major in the inactive reserves. In his new job, Baughn directs a statewide program committed to obtaining earned benefits for veterans.
ERA Cape Realty recently announced the addition of new sales associate Sue Scheffer to its team of real estate sales professionals. Scheffer, who has lived in the Cape Girardeau area all of her life, has been a real estate agent for more than 11 years and is involved in the Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Female Executives.
Cape Girardeau native Morry S. Cole, a lawyer with the St. Louis law firm of Gray, Ritter & Graham, PC, has been named a 2005 recipient of the Missouri Bar Foundation's David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in appellate practice by young lawyers of The Missouri Bar. Cole, 34, is the youngest member of the University of Missouri Law Society and in 2003 was appointed to serve as the youngest member of the University of Missouri Law School Foundation Board of Trustees.
Cell technician Mike Hiett has been named Dana's August employee of the month. Hiett has worked at the facility since 1996. Hiett grew up in Marble Hill, Mo., and currently lives in Olive Branch, Ill.
Tom Griffaw, KFI's sales representative for Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas, was recently recognized by Nebraska Furniture Mart as sales representative of the year for 2004. Griffaw, of Cape Girardeau, has been with KFI for more than 20 years.
