Myers promoted to VP at Alliance Bank

Paula Myers has been promoted to assistant vice president of Alliance Bank, president and CEO Bryan Pogue announced last week. Myers has been with Alliance Bank since 1997 and has 23 years of experience in the financial field. Myers serves on the Advisory Board of Consumer Credit Counseling, attended the University of Northern Iowa and is a graduate of several American Institute of Banking courses.

Alliance Bank opened in 1997 and is locally owned with its operational headquarters in Cape Girardeau and three branches in Cape Girardeau and Sikeston.

Three accountants attend state convention

William R. Schott, Melvin Van de Ven and Scott A. Van de Ven, all certified public accounts, have attended the Missouri Society of CPAs annual convention. The convention was held at Lake of the Ozarks.

The CPAs attended continuing education sessions, committee meetings and the annual membership meeting. Schott serves on the management of an accounting practice committee, Melvin Van de Ven on the legislative committee, and Scott Van de Ven on the taxation committee.

Lynn promoted to captain at Cape fire department

Dean Lynn was recently promoted to captain at the city of Cape Girardeau Fire Department. Lynn began working for the local fire department in 1981 as a firefighter. In July 1996, Lynn received a letter of commendation. The next year, Lynn was promoted to master firefighter. In 2002, he was the fire department employee of the year.

Lynn is involved in the community as well as outside the community. He holds certifications as an Instructor II and has hazardous material technical certification.

Duncan joins Capaha Realty as full-time agent

Wanda Duncan has joined Capaha Realty at 1427 Thomas Drive as a full-time agent. Duncan has worked part-time for Capaha since January 2002 and recently retired from Procter & Gamble after 34 years.

Duncan is the treasurer of the Heartland Women's Investment Club and is a member of the American Business Women's Association, Republican Women's Association of Cape Girardeau and a board member of Cape Regional Credit Union.

Promotions announced at Sherwin Williams

Rodney Hale has been promoted to sales representative for Sherwin Williams Co., Southeast Missouri region. His previous position was manager of the Cape Girardeau store.

Jeff Store has been promoted to manager for the Cape Girardeau store. He had been the assistant manager. Luke Hubbard, who was the manager trainee of the Hannibal, Mo., store, will be the store's new assistant manager.

SEMO names new assistant for equity

Dr. Mel Gillespie of Blackburg, Va., and director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Virginia Tech University, has been named the new assistant to the president for equity at Southeast Missouri State University. He will begin his duties on July 31.

Dr. Pauline Fox, recently retired vice president for administration and enrollment management, has been the interim assistant to the president for equity issues since James LaCour left in August to a position at the University of Northern Colorado-Greeley.

Gillespie has a bachelor's degree in education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a master's degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.
