Physicians receive board certification

Southeast Missouri Hospital emergency services physicians Richard E. Draper, D.O., and C. Adam Swafford, M.D., have been certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Draper, on staff at Southeast since 1995, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in zoology. He completed his M.A. degree in biology at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Draper holds a D.O. degree from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City, Mo. He completed a rotating internship and a residency in Internal Medicine at Lakeside Hospital of the University of Health Sciences.

Swafford, on staff at Southeast since 2002, holds a bachelor's degree in physiology from Oklahoma State University. He earned his M.D. degree at the University of Oklahoma. He completed an internship in emergency medicine at the University of Oklahoma and a residency in the same specialty at Pennsylvania State University.

The American Board of Emergency Medicine is one of 24 boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Founded in 1976, ABEM develops and administers the written and oral emergency medicine certification examination for physicians who have met the credentialing requirements of ABEM.

McConnell joins Horst Pharmacy

Shari McConnell has joined the staff of Horst Pharmacy in Jackson. McConnell will help Horst Pharmacy to educate physicians and patients regarding compounding medication options available in areas such as Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement for women, hospice, veterinary and pain management.

Horst Pharmacy is a full-service practice in Jackson.

Ross nominated for group's vice president

David Ross, director of the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, has been approved by a nominating committee to stand for election as second vice president of the International Association of Assembly Managers.

Ross will be voted on by the membership at the organization's annual conference and trade show this summer in New Orleans. If elected, Ross will assume the association's presidency in 2005-2006.

Ross has directed the Show Me Center for the past 16 years. As second vice president, Ross would be responsible for planning the 79th annual conference to be held in Reno, Nev., next year.

Johnson named chair of Missouri Society of CPAs

Gary Johnson, professor of accounting, finance and business law at Southeast Missouri State University, has been named chair of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Johnson, also a CPA, will serve a one-year term, which begins July 1. Johnson joined MSCPA in 1984 and has served on the society's board of directors. During his tenure at the society, he has served in many committee and chapter leadership positions.

MSCPA is the largest professional association dedicated to advancing CPAs in Missouri.

Mary Kay honors top producers

Jana Jateff, the senior sales director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, recently announced top quarterly saleswomen. Included among the top producers were Amy Cairns of Cape Girardeau and Tina Tidwell of Scott City.
