Workforce Development hires Southeast grad
Workforce Employment Solutions in Cape Girardeau has announced the addition of Brigitte Kinnaman as a human resource generalist. Kinnaman joined the team in April as staffing specialist for the organization. Originally from South Africa, Kinnaman relocated to the Cape Girardeau area to attend Southeast Missouri State University on a tennis scholarship. She graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's in business administration. Upon completing her student internship with a major industrial employer in Southeast Missouri, Kinnaman accepted the new position after graduation. Kinnaman will be working with the Cape Girardeau staff, where they specialize in industrial, office professional and corporate recruiting.
Cell technician Emmanuel Santos has been named Dana Corp.'s May Employee of the Month. Santos has worked at the Cape Girardeau facility since 1994. Santos grew up in the Philippines, then lived in California for five years. Santos has lived in Cape Girardeau for the past 19 years.
Margaret Randol Dement, interim executive director of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, recently attended a professional development retreat sponsored by the Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies. The retreat was an opportunity for community arts leaders from across the state to meet with state arts leaders, network with community arts colleagues and participate in professional development workshops. Session topics included state of the arts, arts and tourism partnerships that work, legal issues and strategies for selling the arts.
Carl Choate, an employee at Heartland Care and Rehab Center, was honored on May 5 with a certificate naming it the 2006 Missouri Outstanding Older Worker. Choate has been employed at the laundry department of Heartland since 1996. He was presented with a certificate by Gretchen Morse of the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri.
Donna Domian, the Cape Girardeau investment representative for Edward Jones, was recently honored by the firm for her job performance. The recognition earned Domian an invitation to the company's Managing Partners Conference in May at the firm's headquarters in St. Louis. The three-day meeting pooled Edward Jones' most successful representatives for a discussion with Edward Jones managing partner James D. Weddle on issues facing the firm and the financial services industry.
Bruce Qualls and Michael Gill, both Modern Woodmen of America representatives from Cape Girardeau, have completed a five-day educational program at the company's home office in Rock Island, Ill. The program focused on helping families with Modern Woodmen life insurance plans, annuities and fraternal member benefits.
