Accountant joins Buchheit as controller

Certified public accountant Eric Hasty has joined the Buchheit team as the new corporate controller. Hasty was a senior auditor at Deloitte & Touche in St. Louis, and was most recently associated with Hillin & Clark, PC, of Cape Girardeau, where he served as an associate CPA. Controller is a new position. Hasty earned his undergraduate degree at Southeast Missouri State University and anticipates receiving his master's in business administration in December.

Area doctor speaks at neurosurgical program

Dr. Scott Gibbs recently returned from Munich, Germany, where he was the keynote speaker at BrainLAB's Residency Program for Advanced Education for Neurosurgeons. Gibbs spoke to more than 40 neurosurgical residents from the United States. The weeklong program focused on the latest in neurosurgical technology, technique and clinical studies.

Reagan president of local nurses association

Kim Reagan, perioperative education coordinator for the department of surgery at Southeast Missouri Hospital, has been elected president of Southeast Missouri Chapter 2607, the local chapter of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She served the chapter as vice president last year. In addition to her duties at Southeast, Reagan has served as a nursing instructor at Shawnee Community College. Before joining Southeast, Reagan was a registered nurse and later director of nursing at hospitals in Southern Illinois.

Two from Cape attend radiator seminar

Randy Smith and Blake Best of B&S Radiator in Cape Girardeau recently attended an education/technology seminar in St. Louis. Educational clinics were held for heat transfer and engine cooling systems on automobiles, trucks, heavy-duty equipment and air to heat exchangers.

Director of education center wins award

Dr. Rick Hux, director of the Harry L. Crisp Bootheel Education Center in Malden, Mo., received the Outstanding Emeritus Educator Award from the Missouri Association of School Administrators. Hux was one of eight educators to receive the award April 10. He has 36 years of experience in university and public elementary and secondary education in Missouri.
