Southeast prof elected Psi Chi president
Dr. Martha Zlokovich, professor of psychology at Southeast Missouri State University, has been elected national president of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology.
Zlokovich was installed into the office of president-elect during the American Psychological Association Convention in Chicago in August. She will serve successive one-year terms as president-elect, president and past-president of the honor society.
Prior to her election as president-elect, Zlokovich served for two years on the Psi Chi National Council as the Midwestern Regional vice president.
At the university, Zlokovich teaches a variety of psychology courses each semester.
Willis passes certification exam
Cathy Willis, a member of Kies Eye Center's technical staff, has been certified by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. She was successful in passing an examination given by the commission in order to obtain this high degree of professional competence. The commission is considered the standard of excellence in ophthalmology.
Southeast district gets Ameren safety award
Ameren's Southeast District received the Eagle Award for the best overall safety performance in Ameren's Missouri Regional organization over the past year, for the second consecutive year. Ameren's senior vice president Tom Voss and vice president Ron Zdellar presented the award to the Southeast District Joint Safety Team in January at the annual safety meeting in Columbia, Mo.
The Eagle Award is based on a number of performance factors -- only one of which is success in reducing or maintaining a low frequency of injuries and accidents. Other factors include effectiveness of the district safety organization, employee involvement and management support for the safety program.
Southeast District has made significant reductions in the number of injuries and vehicle accidents since 1995, and is currently completing 36 months without a lost workday injury.
From Cape Girardeau, the workers involved included Doug Groesbeck, southeast manager; Tim Beussink, construction supervisor; Jamie Tharp, troubleman; and Mike Frey, journeyman substation technician.
Union Planters names Carroll as vice president
Union Planters Bank has announced that Ed Carroll has been named vice president/senior commercial relationship manager for the bank's office at 407 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau.
Carroll has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as vice president/commercial lender with First State Community Bank.
Carroll and his wife, Tammy, live in Jackson with their children.
Union Planters Bank has 17 branches in Southeast Missouri.
Magna-Tel president receives service award
Promotional Products Association International has honored Mary Ann Farmer of Magna-Tel Inc. with the 2003 PPAI Distinguished Service Award during a ceremony at The PPAI Expo 2003 held in Las Vegas in January.
This award recognizes members who consistently share time and expertise with the association through volunteer service and leadership.
Farmer, president and CEO of Missouri-based supplier company Magna-Tel, served on PPAI's Board of Directors from 1998 to 2002 and as vice chair of financial services from 2000 to 2002. Farmer has served on the PPAI Strategic Planning and Marketing Information & Research committees, serving as chairwoman of the latter, numerous task forces as well as a director of PPCEF, the industry college education foundation.
Distinguished Service Award winners are nominated by PPAI board of director members, committee chairs, members and association staff.
The promotional products industry is a $16.5 billion industry. Promotional products are useful or decorative articles of merchandise usually imprinted with a company's name, logo or message, and used in marketing and communications programs.
