Notre Dame High School: Forming Servant Leaders

When the School Sisters of Notre Dame established St. Mary's High School in 1925, eight students attended. Nearly a century and a few name changes later, Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau has grown to an enrollment of more than 500. Since 2005, it has annually been ranked among the Catholic Education Honor Roll's "Top 5% of Catholic High Schools" in the nation.

Generally, 97% of Notre Dame graduates attend college; of the 2019 graduating class, 86% earned in excess of $7 million in scholarships. The level of excellence in academics at Notre Dame can also be seen in athletics, with 19 state championships across nine sports. Last year, students completed more than 13,000 service hours.

Prayer begins each day and class period at Notre Dame. Students take theology classes and have a wealth of opportunities to participate in communal worship, formal or informal prayer, and retreats.

"Notre Dame High School has a lasting impression on those who walk through its doors," says Principal Tim Garner. "As a graduate myself, I see first-hand how much the school means to those whose lives it has touched. Notre Dame inspires us all to be a part of something greater than ourselves."
