NEW ON THE BUSINESS SCENE: EAST CAPE RESTAURANT OPENS

Joey's Restaurant will open Tuesday at East Cape Girardeau, Ill.

Joey's, formerly Witz Restaurant, which closed Dec. 31, will be open six days a week, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. and lunch and dinner the rest of the day.

Joey Browning, who has worked at the restaurant 10 years, is the new owner. He joined Witz in 1985 as a bus boy. He later became a waiter and has worked there while attending Southeast Missouri State University.

Everything will be the same at the restaurant, said Browning. Most of the employees, including cooks, will remain. The home cooking will continue, and the popular pie board will remain.
