NEW ON THE BUSINESS SCENE: BUILDING MATERIALS COMPANY TO OPEN IN CAPE GIRARDEAU

Cardinal Building Materials Inc., a St. Louis-based wholesale building materials distributor, will locate in Cape Girardeau early next year.

The company recently leased a 6,843-square-foot warehouse/office building at 3420 Nash Road, from the Rhodes Real Estate Partnership.

The building, said Tom Kelsey, broker for Lorimont Place Ltd., who represented the owners, was previously occupied by Borden's Ice Cream.

Cardinal Building distributed various home improvement products incuding several lines of siding, replacement windows and kitchen cabinets.

The company has manufacturing and distribution warehouses in St. Louis and Poplar Bluff. They cater primarily to home improvement dealers and applications.

Southeast Missouri has previously been covered out of the St. Louis operation. Ron Burger, of Century 21 Ashland Realty, represented Cardinal in the lease transaction.
