AutoZone, a retail auto parts chain, has moved its Cape Girardeau store to South Kingshighway and Bloomfield Road.
The new, 6,600-square-foot store opened Friday at 10 a.m., following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"We've expanded the Cape Girardeau operation," said Laura Nevins of the AutoZone public affairs department in Memphis, Tenn. The new building replaces the former 5,000-square-foot store here.
The local store employs 12 people, and is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
AutoZone is a Memphis-based, do-it-yourself retail auto parts chain with more than 1,143 stores in 26 states, all company-operated.
The company stocks a broad line of auto replacement parts, from spark plugs to complete engines, as well as accessories, chemicals and motor oil. All stores also offer free testing of batteries, starters and alternators. Nationally, AutoZone employs about 20,000 people.
