Child care center opens

Kids R Us, a child care center for children ages 1 to 12, opens today at 525 N. Silver Springs Road.

"We're licensed for 40 children," said Mark Lamont.

Lamont and his wife, Wendy, are owners of the new center, which is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The new facility will provide care and preschool educational programs.

Stephanie Ellinger, a licensed child care center director, is director of the new facility. Other employees include Faye Goodman, a certified nurse's aide, and teachers Heather Sams and Sharyl Biri.

Home health center

Lutheran Home Health has opened a branch office in Marble Hill.

The new office is on Highway 34, across from Cross Trails Medical Center.

Lutheran Home Health, headquartered at 2861 Bloomfield Road in Cape Girardeau, is a licensed Medicare and Medicaid provider, providing private duty and private pay sitter, homemaker and live-in services.

"We are offering the community a choice in home health care services," said Sandy Torbet, a registered nurse and agency director.

The Lutheran Home provides a full range of health services, including Lutheran Home for the Aging, which offers a team of professionals for rehabilitation, sub-acute residential care and assisted living. It also offers Saxony Manor, which includes apartments and duplexes.

Real estate development

Gateway Apartments has completed acquisition of a real estate development in Jackson.

The property on East Main has a number of ranch-style homes and additional building lots. It was acquired from William Penrod.

Gateway, owned by Tony and Danna Lape, own a number of single-family, multi-family rentals and farm land in Missouri and Mississippi.
